Saloua Raouda Choucair, was a Lebanese artist and sculptor. She was born in 1916 and died in 2017 at the age of 100. She was a pioneer in abstract art in the Arab world. Choucair was one of the first Arab artists to participate in the Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in Paris. Her work combined the western abstraction with the Islamic aesthetics. After returning from Paris back to Beirut, Choucair started to work with sculptures. Moreover, she has developed her skills by using different materials, for example she used wood, stones, metal and plastic to create monumental artworks. In Movement of the Angle Choucair used stone to emphasize the curves and the lines as well as the geometric shapes; this technique gives a sense of movement to the object.
