Gerban Tarazi was a Lebanese artist who was born in 1944 and passed away in 2010. Tarazi was usually recognized as being at the front line of Arab artists who worked with geometry, he was known for his vibrant use of colors and the use of geometric abstraction with oriental identity in his artworks. The two works shown above are from the 'Labyrinthes 11' series. Tarazi used Acrylic on wood in his first artwork, which was created in 1993. Tarazi used various shades of green and blue to emphasize the depth of the painting. In his second piece, created in 2002, he used acrylic on cardboard. Tarazi uses various shades of pink to give the artwork a sense of depth in this painting, but in the center, he adds a light blue. Tarazi, on the other hand, uses the geometric square format in both of his paintings, where he starts with a large square and as it goes in, it gets smaller and smaller, giving it a sense of 3D.
