Farhad Moshiri born 1963 in Shiraz. Moshiri is a contemporary Iranian artist based in Tehran. Moshiri is well-known for his technically flawless, conceptually rich paintings. In the 1980s.Moshiri received his bachelor's degree in fine arts from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, where he first experimented with installations and painting. The above artwork is a stunning example of gold and black combined. Moshiri employs the use of gold to highlight the richness of the Arabic calligraphy; he has chosen random letters and randomly scattered them across the canvas. The use of calligraphy conveys the 1960s pop calligraphy movement. Moshiri has also used the overlapping technique where the letters are over each other; this technique allowed him to add as many letters as he wanted. The black background makes the letters vivid and clear. The texture of the artwork is raised and rough.
