Born in 1956, Ali Hassan is a Qatari painter and calligrapher, famous for his continuous use for the Arabic letter “nun”. After graduating from Qatar University with a BA in History, Hassan took up calligraphy and created a unique blend of Modern art and Arabic calligraphy. After experimentation with the Arabic letter for years, he placed a particular focus on the letter “nun”. In Arabian Sufi philosophy this particular letter is a symbol of unification between the heavens and the earth wherein they are ultimately one.
بعد تخرجه من جامعة قطر بدرجة البكالوريوس في التاريخ، انخرط حسن في فن الخط وخلق مزيجًا فريدًا من الفن الحديث والخط العربي. بعد تجربته مع الحرف العربي لسنوات عديدة، ركز بشكل خاص على الحرف "نون". في الفلسفة الصوفية العربية، هذا الحرف بالذات هو رمز للوحدة بين السماوات والأرض حيث يعتبرا في النهاية واحد.
